Looking to Buy Land in Arizona? Here Are the Counties to Check Out!

Where to Find Great Land to Buy in Arizona

If you aren’t familiar with all Arizona has to offer the prospective land buyer and outdoor lover, check out our article on what makes the Grand Canyon State a great place in which to live and invest. If you already know a little bit about Arizona and are curious about purchasing land, you’re in the right place. Read on as we list the best counties in Arizona for land buying — and all they offer!

Mohave County Hosts the Grand Canyon and Lake Havasu State Park

Mohave County is an excellent place for those looking for land near major recreational attractions. This Arizona county is in the northwestern part of the state, and includes much of the Grand Canyon as well as Lake Havasu State Park, which is an excellent place for boating, swimming, fishing, hunting, and camping.

Mohave County is a gateway to 18 different protected wilderness areas, making it ideal for anyone who enjoys hunting or just being outdoors. The major cities in the county include Kingman, Bullhead City, and Lake Havasu City.

The Unique Makeup of Yavapai County

Located near the middle of the state, Yavapai County has a varying makeup that includes grasslands, mountain valleys, amazing rock formations, and high desert lands. The Sonoran Desert lies partly within the county’s boundaries, as does a large swath of the world’s largest ponderosa pine forest.

Nearly 75% of the county’s land is publicly owned, with 19 wilderness areas fully or partly within its boundaries. But since the county is approximately the size of Massachusetts, there is still plenty of land for sale at competitive prices. This makes Yavapai County an excellent place for those who love fishing, camping, hunting, or hiking. An added benefit is the relatively low cost of raw land in the area.

Santa Cruz County is the Place for Old West History

Santa Cruz County is located along Arizona’s southern border. Near the city of Tucson, this county hosts several old west ghost town tourist attractions, vineyards, and outdoor activities. Those who like to hike, birdwatch, and immerse themselves in the ways of the Old West will enjoy the warm (sometimes hot) weather and the arid desert landscape.

The scenic Patagonia State Park is an excellent place for hiking, camping, kayaking, and fishing. With the US/Mexico border and the city of Nogales nearby, many people cross into the neighboring country to shop and see the sights, while enjoying the increased value of their dollar.

Love Breathtaking Scenery? Navajo County Might Be For You

Navajo County is a long strip of northeastern Arizona of nearly 10,000 square miles. This county is home to the iconic Monument Valley, with its red sandstone formations and wide-open skies. It also includes some of the Petrified Forest National Park and also a large portion of the previously mentioned Ponderosa pine forest.

Activities in Navajo County include hiking, camping, fishing, sightseeing, scenic drives, and golf. The largest cities in Navajo County are Show Low, Holbrook, and Winslow. But there are also smaller resort towns such as Pinetop-Lakeside, Taylor, and Snowflake.

Check out Land for Sale in Coconino County for All Kinds of Adventure

The largest county in Arizona, Coconino is located in the middle of the northern half of the state. The county seat is Flagstaff, home of Northern Arizona University and an excellent area for skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Coconino is also home to a large portion of Grand Canyon National Park, making it the home of one of the biggest tourist destinations in the state.

This large county is also home to many other natural attractions, including Slide Rock State Park, Meteor Crater, Sunset Crater Volcano, Horseshoe Bend, and Antelope Canyon. Coconino County is one of the most desirable places to buy land in Arizona, but the low prices don’t often reflect that. The pine trees, mountains, and high altitude make much of this county a great place for those who wish to build a cabin, have a place to camp, or simply want some land that’s likely to increase in value.
